Rebecka Liljeberg

Rebecka Liljeberg was born May 13, 1981 in Turinge, Sweden. And, yes, it's Rebecka. She wrote Rebecca while she attended an English-language school in Stockholm and during promotion of some films. But the correct spelling is Rebecka. Rebecka grew up in Nynäshamn, a suburb to Stockholm, which was quite like Åmål. Actually, she's lived in a lot of small places (mostly outside Stockholm), Älvsjö, Bagarmossen, Nynäshamn, Mariefred and 8- 10 other places. She has a mother, step mother, father, step father, three brothers and sisters. Right now she lives in a small flat in Stockholm while she's attending Komvux. She went to Kungsholmen «High School», but quit after one year to play in Show Me Love. In lower secondary school (or Junior High School), she went in 9A, just like Agnes. Rebecka likes all sorts of music, among others Edie Brickell, Leah Andreone, Pixies, Le Tigre, Bikini Kill, Belle and Sebastian, Weezer, Apples in stereo, The Beta Band, Doktor Kosmos, Built to Spill, Elliot Smith, Luscious Jackson, Mercury Rev, Breeders, Violent Femmes, Talking Heads, Yo la tengo, Bear Quartet, Velvet Underground, Nico, Honey is cool, Monster... Rebecka is interested in computers, and was slightly involved in the small computer company Knorca, with some friends. She uses both normal PCs and Macintosh, and has stated that Windows is a challenge because it never works. She knows programming (for instance C++), but she'd like to learn more about UNIX/ Linux. She had more time for that earlier. Her favorite game is Zelda 64 on Nintendo 64, or at least it was in 1998. Now she doesn't play much video games anymore, but rather board games like Talisman. She's had more jobs than most of us: Rebecka has worked as a waitress in a cafeteria and been assistant for an underdeveloped child, among lots of other things. But she doesn't find either computers or films important enough for her to work with that all life. Her dream is to become a child doctor, have children, a dog, a nice husband and live somewhere nice in twenty years. But maybe destiny will select other paths for her? She quit senior High School after the first year, to play in Fucking Åmål and Sherdil. She didn't want to go back to the same school after that, but rather attend the Komvux adult education, but she wasn't old enough so she took a year off school. Now in 2001/ 2002 she's attending her last year studying senior high school subjects at Komvux. She's mainly following classes in natural science and mathematics, while she aim to study social studies and social anthropology later. That is, not only medical subjects. Rebecka loves writing, and she wrote a diary every day until spring 1999. Now she's writing more or less regularly in the Swedish newspaper SVD, the entertainment section. You can find a number of these articles in the Media Gallery. It's evident that Rebecka is a reflected girl with many opinions on today's society. She's open to play in even more films after Bear's Kiss if she gets a good offer, and she's also expressed that she'd like to film with Lukas Moodysson again. After all, acting has played a major part in her life, and it surely isn't that easy to let go off, allthough her goal is maybe something else. Her school isn't free either, and she claims she need all the money she can get. Rebecka is a great actor and I'm sure we all hope to see more of her in the years to come, and that doesn't seem like a too distant dream even with Rebecka's own statements in mind.
